Ultrasound of musculoskeletal system
Ultrasound examination is due to its availability and relatively simple implementation often the first examination method in the orthopedic field. It is suitable not only for the first examination for discovering diseases and injury changes in the region of shoulder joint, elbow and ankle, but also for learning about injuries and diseases of soft tissues of the locomotor system, such as tendons, ligaments and muscles. Less often but in some cases still meaningful are ultrasound examinations of knee and hip joints.
Abdominal ultrasound (complete)
The purpose of the complete abdominal ultrasound is to evaluate if there are any fluids in the abdominal cavity, and to evaluate abdominal organs: liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, spleen, pancreas, adrenals, urinary tract, gastrointestinal walls and uterus, ovary and prostate, and to evaluate retroperitoneum with the aorta, interior vena cava and lymph nodes.
The patient must not eat at least 6 hours prior the examination. During this period of time drink only water or tea without sugar. Continue to take all prescribed medication as usual. Please do not go to the toilet. For this procedure to be successful, a full bladder is important. You may empty your bladder after the scan.
During the examination the patient is lying down. The study will take 15 to 20 minutes.
